Preparing to commend 100 years of Oceanport

Oceanport — In 2020, Oceanport turns 100, and the Oceanport Historical Committee is getting things set up.

At an ongoing Borough Council meeting, panel part Rosanne Letson gave a notice of what has been going on.

District history specialist Frank Baricelli and different individuals from the panel are chipping away at a book to celebrate the centennial. It will refresh a volume distributed in 1970 for the district's 50th commemoration.

Prior in the gathering, board had applied for an award to help distribute the book. Oceanport expected to apply since the council doesn't have its own Federal ID number, yet Letson said that this award will help immensely with the expenses.

"The book is a reality. It will occur," she said.

The board of trustees is likewise arranging a Holiday Home Tour in December. So far 11 homes have joined.

The visit will be Dec. 8, from 11-3 p.m., just before the yearly tree lighting.

Notwithstanding perceiving how the homes are improved for these special seasons, neighborhood organizations will supply desserts to eat, and the Garden Club is making occasion focal points for the homes.

Tickets are $40.

In January, the panel will enrich the boulevards with enlivening pennants and banners hung along the post. They'll be in plain view on Main Street and, if there are sufficient backers, likewise along Fort Monmouth.

Letson likewise asked individuals to look at the Oceanport Centennial Facebook Page, which is loaded with old photographs of the precinct.
